Dayanna Barbosa began playing volleyball in the early teenage years, quickly falling in love with the sport as an OH/OPP Hitter in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. She played for 9 year at Mackenzie Sport Club in Brazil and obtained a scholarship to play for Polk State College. She contributed to the team's first trip to the NJCAA National tournament. After her two years at Polk State, Dayanna earned a scholarship to continue her education at Mars Hill University in North Carolina. Showing great leadership and talent, she quickly earned her place as the captain of the Mars Hill Lions. She graduated with a bachelor’s in Exercise Science and began as an assistant coach at her first alma mater, Polk State College. During her first year coaching, she helped the Polk State Eagles earn their chance at the NCJAA National Tournament.
